Title: Lemonade Stand

Book Description: This engaging and colorful book, written by two college students, places mathematics nicely in context for third or fourth graders. The reader runs a lemonade stand. As customers place their orders (and the customers vary randomly among such interesting characters as Bart Simpson and Poomba) the reader must enter them correctly, calculate the price correctly, and make change for each customer. At each step, the WorkBook checks the reader's calculations and only allows her to proceed if the calculations are correct. Now, the interesting twist is that the proprietor of the stand accumulates earnings as she serves more and more customers. Whenever she likes, she may "go to the toy store" which is handsomely designed with a variety of toys to purchase. She may only buy what she can afford, and so, again, the arithmetic of barter is put into play.
