This
6-page self-contained Microworld develops a metaphoric device for the visualization
and discussion of the idea of limit.
For this, it readily enlists the zooming technique that presents a window
to the viewer as a rectangle in the Cartesian Plane.
One
interpretation of the epsilon-delta definition of Limit is as a dialog,
in which it is asserted that whenever an epsilon is presented, a suitable
delta can be found. This is cleverly illustrated both visually, where the
windows themselves define the epsilons and deltas, and by means of a game.
The latter properly sets the stage for the cast of mind the student needs
finally to grasp this elusive but simple idea.
