This WorkBook requires Mathwright Library Player 2000 to read it. To download the book, press the button on the left. A self-extracting file will be downloaded. Either save it to disk and execute it later, or simply select "Open it" from the popup dialog. This places the book, along with its documentation, on the Start, Programs, Mathwright Library menu, so that you may read it whenever you like.

Title: Process Models

Book Description: In this lab, there are 5 scatter plots to be modeled using the techniques described in lab 3. For some of the plots linear models will be appropriate, and for others, we shall have to do a bit more work. The scatter plots are:

  1. SALES (This represents sales of a pharmaceutical company over a 6 year span)
  2. INCLINED (This describes the relationship between the time required for a ball to roll down an inclined plane and the length of the base of the plane, the height being kept constant)
  3. PENDULUM (This describes the relationship between the speed of a pendulum bob at the lowest point of its descent, and the height from which it fell)
  4. GRAVITY (This describes Galileo's famous "thought experiment" about falling bodies on the basis of which he formulated his principle of uniform acceleration)
  5. MYPLOT (This is a plot for you to experiment with.)

Suggested Use: Instructions are under the (?) button. The first page of this lab is a Report page and contains the lab assignment with space for students to fill in answers. This has been saved as Notes for that page. To open the report, return to the first page by pressing the Black Rectangle, then select Customize, Notes for this page. To close the notes before leaving the first page, select: Customize, Close Notes.
