Title: Fraction Marathon

Book Description: This playbook may be used by young learners to practice arithmetic of fractions. It presents a series of five "tasks" : Addition of fractions, Subtraction of fractions, Transforming "improper" fractions to "mixed numbers" and vice-versa, Multiplication of mixed numbers, and Division of mixed numbers. It allows the student two chances in the first two topics, giving a hint about common denominators if she does not succeed at first.
There are five levels of play, and the system generates problems randomly at each level. When the player succeeds with 10 problems consecutively in a task, she is allowed to go to the next task.
At the end, the system generates a tabular and graphical (bar chart) report of the student's performance at each task. This may be saved and later restored for comparison. The final page is called "Test Yourself." On this page, Students may create their own problems and check their answers after attempting to solve them. The playbook uses sound and animation (sparingly) throughout to enliven the tasks.
