WorkBook requires Mathwright Library Player 2000 to read it. To download
the book, press the button on the left. A self-extracting file will
be downloaded. Either save it to disk and execute it later, or simply
select "Open it" from the popup dialog.
This places the book, along with its documentation, on the
Start, Programs, Mathwright Library menu, so that you may read
it whenever you like.

Title:
College Algebra 5: Linear Functions

Book
Description: This
WorkBook is an introduction to linear functions, and linear growth. It
begins with illustrations of equations of lines in the plane. Then continues
with plots of linear data and tables. It shows how "best fit" lines may
model such plots.
Next, it studies linear equations and inequalities in one or two variables.
For this, it generates problems randomly, or allows you to make problems
up. In either case, if the problem is an equation to solve, it draws the
solution graphically, then explains, step-by-step, how to solve the equation
algebraically. It does this for your problems also!
If the problem is an inequality in one variable, it also graphs the inequality,
and shows which interval in the line provides the solution, by drawing
that interval. Next, it gives a step-by-step explanation of how the inequality
can be solved algebraically. It does this for the problems it generates,
and for the ones that you make up.
The book finishes with a discussion of simultaneous systems of linear
equations, showing, with step-by-step explanations again of problems it
supplies, or ones you create, how to sove them either by the "Substitution
Method" or by "Gaussian Elimination."
